Oh, but just because I asked for one, doesn't mean -
*Then she stops herself from saying anything else, because duh, Sonico, he's joking. As for his question, Sonico glances away and slowly shakes her head*
Sad? Oh no. I'm very pleased you've both been able to join me.
I believe that part. I meant I'm not buying that there isn't something on your mind. Because there is, right? I'm getting a serious vibe that there might be.
[ He reclined in the booth a bit, hands behind his head. ]
Not that you need to tell me. We only met ten minutes ago.
*What Sonico says next is what has been on her mind, but she doesn't make that obvious, instead doing her best to bring it up like a casual conversation starter*
So, do you and Terrance like to do this after work often? Sitting with girls and buying them drinks?
*It would make sense as to why Terrance was alone in the bar last time they met here, though he has made her drink water, not alcohol*
[ Yep. There it was. He'd pegged her as someone who would probably be easy to get the truth out of with the right kind of persuasion. That what she was thinking about would pertain to Terrance seemed obvious, but he hadn't really anticipated that kind of statement. He looked a bit puzzled for a second before he realized that his jesting comment probably drew her to that conclusion. ]
My god, what? No. Does Terrance act like a playboy to you? I didn't follow him so we could tag team a, like, eighteen year old. God almighty.
[ He didn't actually sound upset though. Probably because he had to talk himself out of weird situations all the time. ]
*At once Sonico bit her lip and bowed her head, shoulders squeezing together in awkward embarrassment*
N-no. He doesn't seem like that at all! I didn't mean to offend.
*Sonico glances up at Tony in earnest then swallows as she drops her gaze again. What an idiot she feels, and what a horrible impression she must have made of herself*
[ How did this girl put up with Terrance if that was all it had taken to make her feel bad? ]
You didn't. I've got the mouthiest kid on the planet working for me and you're worried?
[ He leaned into her line of sight. ]
I have thick skin. Trust me. It isn't like you said something horrible. It's good. I'm good. Are you good? I'm gonna dare to hope for a yes since he's gonna be pretty pissed if he comes back and knows I made you look sad.
*Sonico turns slightly in her seat to cast a quick glance at Terrance, then turns back with her head still slightly bowed, but a small smile on her face*
He's not that bad...
*When he leans in, Sonico sits back up straight, playing with the straw in her bottle*
If you're good and it's all okay then I'm okay too.
*She doesn't look elated, exactly, but much better than she had a moment ago*
To me he is. Can't go for more than ten minutes without talking back.
[ He followed her gaze, to Terrance and back again. He had a small smirk on his lips, but otherwise seemed casual as ever. ]
Nah, he's not bad. I think he probably cares about people more than he likes to let on, but you didn't hear that from me. And yeah, good. I'm good, you're good, we're good, maybe Terrance is good. Who the hell knows. Why is he being so slow?
[ Tony stood from his seat and yelled in his direction. ]
[Terrance walks over, a scowl accompanying the three drinks in his hand. He hands Sonico's her drink first, as requested it has a straw. It'd taken forever for the bartender to get the straw which is why he'd taken so long. He then passes Tony a whiskey before taking a sip of his own.
*Sonico just smiles at Tony's observations about Terrance*
He can be a bit grumpy. Like a grumpy old man in a - *She pauses here, thinking carefully how she ought to describe Terrance's body. She isn't a total creep, after all* - well, in a not old man's body.
*That'd do. At the suggestion that he maybe cares more than he lets on, Sonico blinks at Tony, cheeks gently pink. But thankfully, she doesn't have to say anything on the matter because Terrance arrives with the drinks. Her eyes light up the moment that she sees that it does indeed have a straw in it*
Thank you! This is perfect!
*Yes, she is looking very pleased with herself about the straw being there in her drink, and she happily starts drinking like all is right with the world, her legs even swinging slightly under the table*
Hey, let's not worry. We're all here, and we're all good. Right, Tony?

[ He was kind of hoping that choice of words would prompt her to at least protest. Mind games and all. ]

But it's not fake at all - I really am enjoying having both your company.
*Because let's just stick to the stuff that she isn't hiding, Sonico decides*
